Who We Are
Welcome to Graphite’s second annual writing competition!
Graphite’s writing competition aims to increase access to scientific writing amongst high school students, provide mentorship for students, and present science as an approachable field that sparks intrigue and innovation. We hope the writing competition inspires creativity and scientific curiosity and gives students insight into the scientific field, not as something to be intimidated by, but a topic to be embraced and shared!

Award Benefits
Awardees will be announced via email on Friday, April 4, 2025. If you accept the award, you will receive the following benefits:
- Your name and article will be featured on Graphite’s website.
- Your name and article will be included in Graphite’s annual print publication.
- You will be given a copy of the new print publication along with various Graphite merchandise.
- You will receive a $500 scholarship!
- You will be invited to the Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium at UC San Diego. You will have the opportunity to become exposed to university-level research and become recognized for your accomplishments during the award ceremony!
Award recipients must provide a headshot and short bio of themselves to be included on Graphite’s website and print publication.
